Alaska Coastal Safety offers Avalanche Awareness, Safety, and Rescue training courses that follow the education guidelines established by the American Avalanche Association. All courses are taught by local avalanche practitioners with professional membership in the American Avalanche Association and an advanced professional level avalanche education. This combined with years of real world professional rescuer experience gained in search and rescue, ski patrol, and snow safety programs allows our instructors to prepare students with techniques and perspectives often missing from the traditional Level 1 and Level 2 Avalanche Classes. Our avalanche rescue course would serve as a great way to meet pre-requisites for the new Pro 1 or Pro 1 Bridge Course, and provide great practice for meeting the rescue skills testing criteria in the new Pro Courses.
Avalanche Safety Courses include the following:
Avalanche Awareness (2-4 hours classroom or field based)
Avalanche Rescue (8hrs minimum with combined classroom and field hours)
Avalanche Search and Rescue for Search and Rescue Groups, and state and federal agencies. (Custom Programming)
Avalanche Rescue Dog Training (Custom training courses for SAR dog groups, and private coaching for individual teams)
Please see our course calendar for details on scheduled courses or contact us for an inquiry on custom programs.
